Introduction to Spark
Spark is a youth apprenticeship program, with a mission of inspiring middle-school youth to pursue their interests, create bonds with their communities, and develop a lifelong passion for learning. Spark matches students with one-on-one apprenticeships in a profession of their choice, from architecture to film-making, where students work with a trained mentor in a local workplace. This experience is complemented by a leadership development curriculum, empowering students to become motivated learners and leaders throughout their lives.
Spark offers this program to 7th and 8th grade students, through summer and after-school programs, in Redwood City, CA. Plans are underway to open programs in San Francisco, CA in Fall 2008.
Spark provides once-in-a-lifetime learning opportunities to youth around the Bay Area - we invite you to become involved as a student, parent, volunteer or donor!
