Building a Nation of Opportunity

Mentoring Recognized as Part of the Solution in Helping Opportunity Youth Succeed

Spark joined nearly 1,000 attendees for the 2016 Opportunity Summit on September 10, 2016.  The event gathered a select bipartisan cross-sector group of business leaders, community organizations, policymakers and young adults to collaborate, expand opportunity and shape the nation we make.

The event also marked the release of Our Opportunity Nation: A Plan to Fulfill America's Dream as an Opportunity Nation.  As an Opportunity Coalition member, Spark proudly signed the report and endorsed recommendations for mentoring as a solution to empower the next generation to perform better in school, graduate on time and lead fulfilling careers and lives.

Stacy E. Holland, Executive Director of the Lenfest Foundation, represented Spark in a panel discussion titled "Opportunity ROI – From Social Good to Business Imperative."  The panel was organized by MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership and Urban Alliance.  Discussion topics covered the importance of cross-sector partnerships in developing youth employment training and support, as well as the role of and impact on the private sector.
